Where will I be working this summer? In 2024, we are currently hiring for jobs in various new location sites and states. See specific job postings for details.
Where do the students come from and how old are they? We mainly host camps with students from around Europe and Asia. Ages vary from 12 to 18 years old.
Can I park my car on campus? Limited parking may be available near campus and cannot be guaranteed. We do not provide parking for employees. Our site centers have paid parking garages and are typically accessible through public transportation.
Why should you come and work for us? Working for our summer program is a great way for newly qualified teachers as well as experienced teachers to gain valuable experience of teaching young learners. You will be provided with all books, materials and adaptable lesson plans to greatly reduce the time you need to spend preparing classes.
How long will my contract be? Teaching contracts will vary from 2-8 weeks but the majority of contracts are 4 weeks. This largely depends on student numbers and will be confirmed with you on the offer of a contract.
How many hours per week will I work? You will have 15 contracted teaching hours per week Monday to Friday (mornings only – 9am to 12.15pm)
Do teachers ever have to do afternoon/evening activities or go on excursions? No. Teachers are recruited to be teachers, not teacher/activity leaders. If you would like to go on an excursion or participate in activities you need to ask the camp manager.
Can you provide me with housing accommodations? No. We do not provide teachers with accommodations due to limited availability.
How many days off do I get per week? Teachers work Monday – Friday only. You will not be required to work weekends. If you do require a day off due to an unforeseen circumstance you will be expected to report this in advance to the Teaching Manager.
Do I have to attend an orientation before I begin working? Yes. The orientation will give you an introduction to the materials you will be using during the summer. We will also provide you with information on what is expected of you together with details on how you will be paid, etc. This is usually carried out a few days before the first students arrive.
What do I need to bring to the orientation? During the recruitment process we will ask you to email copies of your degree, TEFL/ESOL qualification/s, ID (passport or driver’s licence) to us. However it is essential that you bring the originals to the induction day.
Will I be observed teaching during the summer? Yes, you will be observed teaching at least once. Observations are carried out as a means of quality control and teacher development.
How many students will there be at the camp? Students typically stay for 2 weeks. There will be between 150 to 200 students on campus at any one time.
Do I have to wear a uniform? Is there a dress code? By joining our teaching team you will be representing the company so please be presentable in appearance. Smart-casual dress is expected.
Will I be given a staff pass while working on campus? You will be given a lanyard to wear while you are on campus. This is to help both students and campus staff identify you.
Do I have to follow the course book or can I use my own resources? Of course you can add your own teaching style and we expect you to adapt the course book to meet the needs of your students but we do ask that you follow basic curriculum set out.
How many students will I have in a class? There is a maximum of 15 students per class. The average is usually about 12.
Will I have to write lesson plans? No! However you will be expected to record what you have covered each lesson on a register form provided. You will however be required to write formal lesson plan when you are observed by your Teaching Manager.
Will the teaching staff have access to the internet? The amount of internet access you will have will depend on the location of your classroom. In others internet access may only be available in the staff room. The number of computers available in the staff room is limited so you cannot rely on the internet as a resource.
Will there be Interactive White boards/ Projectors in the classrooms? All classrooms will either have whiteboards or blackboards. Classrooms do not have interactive whiteboards, but some classrooms may be fitted with a projector and a computer. Teachers should not rely on everyday access to these and should plan in advance with the teaching manager if one is needed.
Will we have access to a photocopier? Only your Teaching Manager will have access to a photocopier. In reality there should be little need to use a photocopier as we provide you with necessary materials.
What teaching resources will we be provided with? All teachers will be provided with a login to an online shared resources drive which includes in-house communicative activities to use with students, digital copies of teacher guidelines and adaptable resources. You will also be provided with a copy of the student book.
How and when will I get paid? You will be paid through a payroll on the receipt of your weekly timesheets. You should collect your weekly timesheet from the Teaching Manager (TM) each Monday. It is your responsibility to complete and hand your timesheet back to the TM every Friday.
